I am considering buying a new EOS 3 body in Bangkok, Thailand but the new ones in the shop do NOT come with the standard Canon 12 month warranty. The prices here are better than in Australia but I don't know if I will take a chance. I speak english and no thai so there is a language barrier. Can anyone tell me why the pro gear doesn't come with a warranty. Is it because there is no distributor in Thailand? I was in Vietnam also and it is the same there.... This is a great reference site, thanks very much to all those who contributed to it.

I'm the proud owner of a good old Canon A-1, and have reacquainted myself with photography these last months, even buying new lenses and accessories for it (thanks to e-bay).
