Speculators who have been making money from the booming property prices in the past are likely to be disappointed if they choose to follow the same path. Speculating is not advisable during difficult times. On the other hand, cashed up buyers who have a secure income and intend to be owner-occupiers will fare better if they are patient.




A slowdown in residential property may provide opportunity for serious home buyers with strong financial base. The issue of timing and the geographical spread of property investment requires experience and expertise.
For genuine home buyers, it is important that you do enough homework. If you are unsure, talk to independent financial advisers or property consultants before making any moves.




At a time when the pressure is slowly building, steer clear of unchartered waters. The market downswings and ringgit attacks will have its impact on the economy and in turn property. While the extent of the effect is still unclear. Be cautious. Wait for the picture to become clearer. Adopt a prudent strategy. Look carefully before you rush in. Property should always be a part of any prudent investment portfolio and as always research and a firm understanding of your long term objectives remain the key.
