Wat Keschaiyo (Wat Chaiyo Worawihan) Ang Thong (Anthong) Province, Thailand.

***

The whole problem is, I cannot read or speak Thai (other than simple conversation). During the completion of renovation, I think It was officiated by the then, Thailand Prime Minister Chuan Leekpai. The temple has published a reference book in relation to the event as well as compiling a very detailed history in relation to the formation and background history of the temple. Naturally, the attraction of the publication was centered on Soomdej Toh which may be a great reference materials for Keschaiyo Images produced thus far. The center-spread, consists of 15 very well illustrated pages itemized various aged forms of Soomdej Keschaiyo images which I reprinted here for you to refer (or as a guide for all unique Soomdej Keschaiyo Images).

Credit: All these pages on Soomdej Keschaiyo were extracted from the reference book (see below) given to me by the the acting chief-abbot of Wat Keschaiyo. I cannot pronounce his name correctly, but for those who can read Thai, this scanned image from the publication could probably help you to pronounce his name correctly.

(roughly pronounced as"Paph Kho Pi San Chai Mong Khun")

For those of you who may not be able to own or acquire any of the rare, aged (can be pricey) pieces shown above in the templates, take a look at this Soomdej Keschaiyo above - I was given six of them (roughly 20-30 years old - but it was also sold in the temple, I think.) by the acting Chief Monk (probably, he was equally surprised by the visit from a guy so far away) and you can see they are equally very high quality image as well. As I have told him I will create a featured photo-journal site on my visit; so here it is. just in case some of you may never had the chance to make a trip like me, this photo gallery serves as a virtual tour of the temple once so famous in the history of Thai amulet development.

Oh.. for those of you who may be interested to take a visit, it is located at ANTHONG, approx. 120km (around 60 miles) away from Metropolitan Bangkok - it is not particularly far and it is the same route towards Chiangmai. The Taxi driver who sent me there was quite a nice and friendly Thai folk; he is also a Buddhist, serves as an good interpreter as well - you can called him in Bangkok - named Mr. SOMBOON Tel: 05-8134318 (hand Set) or 02-4581404. As I have told him probably some of my Malaysian or Singaporean enthusiasts may require such service. The fare is approx. RM190-00 for to-and-return trip, including all highway toll fares (traveling alone may be stiff in cost, but will well breakup when a small group of three).

As for me, my personal objective was met as I simply dislike having question that kept lingering in my mind. Actually, other than the acting chief-de-monk ("Chao-A-Wat"), none of other senior monks were able to provide an clear indication. The acting Chief (pictured below) told me it was roughly produced back in (or around) 2300+ (Buddhist calendar year) - which calculated as approx. 100+ years old. I don't expect an exact year of the produce but the trip has resolved a longtime personal question. For those who may be "bermati mati" (died hard) to find an exact answer, errr .. why not do a carbon test - but that sounds more stupid (& disrespectful too) than what I have done, isn't it ?

NOTE:- Virtually ALL the images appear in this site have two dimensions in their respective display. I think most seasoned Thai amulet lovers probably possess a pair of hawk eyes second to the Jews in the diamond trades, so, it is the intention to provide a LARGER view of each thumbnail in order for everyone to enjoy, authenticate or verify their originality. The technique to fully explore the convenience of this display system is - even when the larger view appears on the browser, you should use your mouse to click again to see the actual explosive view. Please bear with the slower download time of those explosive views. Enjoy.
