Chung Chen Sun, born in 1935 in Malacca, Malaysia, is an internationally well-known artist and art educator. He graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore and obtained Master Degree of Public Administration and Management from Los Angeles University, United States in the sixties.

He returned to Malaysia and founded Malaysian Institute of Art in 1967 and spearheaded art education in Malaysia. Today, MIA is one of the largest Art and creative Institution in the South East Asia region.

He is also actively engaged in international art education exchanges and held positions like Co-Chairman and Vice-Chairman of Asia Pacific Art Education Association.

When he was professoring the Chinese Cultural University,Taiwan in l981,he founded the International Contemporary Ink Painting Association to promote this form of art. He also helped in launching contemporary art and design education in China in recent years.

Chung excels in ink painting.

In his journey of painting, he has been constantly seeking breakthrough. His works have been exhibited in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, India, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, United Kingdom, United States, France, Germany, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil etc. He has held 17 solo exhibitions over the years.

He is now Principal of Malaysian Institute of Art, President of Malaysian Chinese Cultural Society. In 1977, he was conferred PPN by DYMM Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Dipertuan Agong, His Majesty the King Of Malaysia.

In 1984, he received the "Cultural & Art Highest Honour Award" from The China Cultural Association, Taipei, Taiwan. In 1985, he was selected into The "World Celebrities Collection" which was published in Cambridge, England.

Chung later received the "One of Selected Ten Outstanding Hakka Personality of the World Award" in 1992.

In 1995, he was awarded "Outstanding Master" in International Chinese Calligraphy & Painting by National Cultural Association, Taiwan.
