Leica MP 16x chrome w/Leicavit MP, 1957
Here featured another two Leica MP
chrome model with respective serial number MP-167 and MP-368. Although most of the
original MP have similar appearance but one of the good thing with this profile was
a few photos that show various features of the camera accessories where I thought
they are quite useful in providing a glimpse of how it works in a MP. For an instance,
the MP original case has a bottom opening that permits the Leicavit rapid film advance
lever to be extracted out for operation without having to remove the camera from
the case. As one of the other photo profile also shows the similar function such
as the Film Speed Reminder Disc can be viewed directly though another opening at
the rear section via a opening. Further, the followed up profile has illustrated
with a rare and probably only one Leica MP original packaging box that has seen so
far. These are essential features that can be sued for further studies on other camera
operational features on the original series of Leica MP. One of the main purpose
of all these Visual Profile is intended to use them as a source to digest and learn
about new things. I am benefiting from creating these pages while editing the photos
and I hope they will bring the same benefits to your as well.
One of the good comparison of this
Visual Library was the early production series MP-167 was it retains in an original,
unrestored form while the MP-368 was considered a later model. The latter has a good
profile on some accessories that came with the original MP during that period.

Leica MP-368 chrome
model w/Leicavit MP, 1958
Here is a Chrome MP with Leicavit MP that was sued by an identified photographer,
famous Italian photographer Tazio Secchiaroli. Leicashop® auction literature
stated Tazio Secchiaroli was an original 'paparazzo' and Federico Fellini's set photographer.
The camera is used, as personal tool but in 100% original condition. It comes with
the book 'Secchiaroli' with his dedication confirming that he worked with this camera
for the film 'Dolce Vita'. As a special rarity the camera comes with the only known
'Leica MP' maker's box and a mint ever-ready case for the Leica MP with Leicavit
MP. The camera is one of two Leica MP cameras used by Secciaroli, the second is the
MP-16, originally a black camera, later re-chromed at the Leica factory and presently
owned by a famous Italian collector). This pre-owned and identidfied user MP camera
has an Action startup price of EURO 18,000-00 and a hammer price of EURO 31,200-00*.

* NOTE;- Indicative price(s) herein were based original prices published
on previous auction literature/references. Prices may vary according to gradual yearly
premium, supply/demand equations, and/or other progressive renewed valuation methods
that may vary year to year basis.

IF ever this camera has not been restored, the interior
looks can be considered very very clean. However, as all surviving MP are easily
half a century old, proper cleaning, lubrication and restoration before an auction
sale is acceptable. It benefits both the potential buyer as well as preserving some
premium.

NOTE:-
T Leica MP showcase may have other Leica MP model in different spec and/or configuration
to show. IF anyone has a personal unit intends to exhibit his prized possession and/or
for equipment specialist who may intend to extend the reach of a possible sale/auction,
just contact my buddy, Mr. Rick <rick_oleson@yahoo.com>. Appropriate
credit and return Link will be provided. Further, I guess a LEICA MP/Leicavit instruction Manual would be nice to be included in this site as shared resources too.
Anyone is good at French ? I managed to download a copy of the original
Leicavit-M Instruction Manual written in French. Looking for those who have nothing
to do at night and can find some time volunteer to translate the few pages back to
English for me). Note:- I can't pay for such services..hehe.
Tips: For those who has user's manual for rare Leica collectibles; in case
you don't have a table top scanner to scan the copy of the instruction manual, Just
use a Digital Compact, shoot the pages in highest resolution in broad daylight should
be good enough for me to do a HTML format conversion.
