Barring misperception as I have personal interest as a owner of this LEICA M6 Special
Edition rangefinder camera. I still think the LEICA M6 Year of the Rooster Edition
presents its own appeal as quite a Leica collectible body. Well, probably if ever
the camera was issued as a Year of the Capricorn or Taurus in Greek-rooted zodiac,
Western Leica Collectors may feel a little "at home". But what I am trying
to convey was from another perspective, firstly - it was probably one of the earliest
LEICA M6 special production series which had its own unique specification. Secondly,
citing previously there hasn't been a LEICA that carried with a Chinese calligraphy
as well as in raw oriental tradition and it should has its own collectible element
which are not found on any other LEICA. Thirdly, regardless like to admit it or don't,
The LEICA M6 Rooster is a good representation in a product that was released to cater
for DEMAND that directly associated with the rise of another economic powerhouse
in global market arena. I do realize it may mean NOTHING if one has no sense as a
global citizen kind of strings in the mindset. It is just like why we are so fond
of collecting oldies cameras/lenses. The desire partly was driven by acknowledgment
of a product which would help us to remember an era in the excellence of mechanical
engineering as well as brilliance in the intelligence that put together in enabling
such a product to be realized during the old days. They are not just a product, it
is history as well. So, LEICA M6 Rooster has its specific value in this sense too,
it is a luxurious by-products emerged from demand, as well as witnessing an era of
global change both economic as well a politically.

Most of all, I guess it is also
a matter of personal preference as there are alternatives to consider from all aspects
if solely viewed from a perspective of collecting the camera for investment. Errr
...has anyone made a stupid calculation before ? As I said, there are only 300 pcs
of these being issued and you have two billion + Chinese residing in various global
locations with probably 0.01% having coincided financial qualification as well as
personal interest in a LEICA collectible with probable 0.01% within the 0.01% who
may be sentimental enough in seeking a quality collection with Chinese character
engraved - that makes probable 23,000 "qualified" candidates who may actively
appear in the used and collectible market. You won't go too wrong with this kind
of investment isn't it ? hehe...(doesn't
I sounded here like an old sly fox..).
Joke aside, the companion LEICA Summicron-M 1:2/50mm
lens Rooster Edition seemingly was only made for the LEICA M6 Year of the Rooster
Edition only as it only carries the matching serial number of the camera and there
was no Leica production coding engraved on the front lens data metal ring. An identical
red-paint Chinese old-style calligraphy was followed after the S/N. |

The Summicron-M 50mm f/2.0 essentially was the standard
production 50/2 lens which has a conventional silver-chrome finishing that bears
the classic optical design within that has made the Summicron lens so famous all
these years. Solidly built with full metal jacket and it project the kind of robust
feel which is hard to compare by modern Japanese lenses. Most of the Summicron-M
2/50 as used by some of the EARLY releases of special edition M6 models were identical,
except in their respective presentation/identification.

Flip open the hinged film back and it reveals the internal
basic film transport system where you can witness the same top class quality finish
as found on other equivalent Leica M6 classic rangefinder camera model. Except for
the double film guide rails, all the interior have been heavily coated with anti
reflective reason and paint works to minimize any possibilities that might affect
exposure.

Below is a mini-showcase of various photos taken
but NOT being used for this site on the Leica M6 Year of the Rooster '93 rangefinder
camera model. Just Click for Explosive individual View(s). You may use them for
any purpose (NO credit
is necessary), with the strict EXCEPTION for the purpose of Sale/Trading where your actual unit in possession / disposal should
be used - this is to protect interest of another potential Leica investor/photographer.
Curse or beat me if you like, but this is essential business/personal ethic to follow
on the Network.
Guess there are nothing more to discuss
as the end section in this site. Originally I was just intended to present the M6
Rooster with a simple photo showcase but I thought might as well make good use the
empty slots to share a few personal thought with this Special / Limited Edition of
the LEICA M6 Rooster Edition. As I still have problem in writing or conveying properly
with right use of words and phases, if anyone of you have nothing to do and can spare
some time at night, why don't just help me clean up the pages while I can concentrate
more with other LEICA M6 models ? Further, as I looked back to the main index page
with the listing pointed to all the LEICA M6 variants, I was thinking why don't owners
of the respective mentioned M6 models try to allocate sometime to take some nice
photos of their own collection, in one way, he can practice how to capture product
photography while on the other hand, see their own creative works being publish and
share by others a site later ? It will definitely make my life easier and enable
a more presentable site for all to share. It is a win-win situation. Have a thought
okay ?
Enjoy your possession.
