Shutter Release/Self-timer

The electromagnetic shutter release operates smoothly and softly, and features a finger rest to reduce fatigue. Depress the button lightly for a meter reading and ranging, all the way to take the picture. And so that you can get in the picture yourself, it incorporates a 10-see self-timer An LED flashes to indicate its operation.

Action Grip

Started from the early days of AE-1 and A-1, Canon A series bodies have excellent human engineering. The AL-1 has a action grip for comfort and secure hold onto the camera. It is large and well contoured to allow the camera's side to fit snugly and securely in your right palm.

Cheap entry but with a broad Photographic Horizons

The AL-1 admits you into an exciting new world of photographic possibilities some of which perhaps, you probably never even knew existed with what an entry model such as the AL-1 can offer a photographer. Essentially, it is the Canon photographic system as a whole. Useful accessories like the dedicated Speedlite 166A (or any equivalent Canon flash units) and older Power Winder A or the newer model
Power Winder A2 are just a few means of expanding the camera's potential, but they merely represent asmall section of an entire system of accessories available for use with the AL-1.

Canon Optics: Although being 'abandoned' and replaced with the EOS mount but came with a distnguish advantage to serve in as used items.

The Canon FD lens system has over 60 optical items during its prime manual focus FD days, which interpret into good resources in the used market. You have a choice to start from an ultra-wide of 7.5mm f/5.6 fisheye, wide angle lenses, zooms and telephotos, right up to 1200mm super telephoto that can record objects almost beyond sight. There are a variety of lenses is available for special purpose such as architectural and scientific applications.

Macro-photography is another area where you can built an individual system on its own with three macro lenses and accessories such as Bellow, extension tubes etc.

For unmanned photography, there are a standalone remote accessories as well to expand your photographic needs. But the best of all note is: since the manual focus FD system has been replaced with the current electronic EOS mount, there are a wide arrays of used and cheaper items on the market for you to pick from.
