First of all, these Soomdej are not OLD but rather, they were using all those old molds from Wat Rakhang/Rakang which had produced the famous series of Soomdej amulets and you can quote them as a modern replica. I was told they were released to coincide with the Thai King birthday, a project headed by Chao Khun Thian, current chief Abbot of Wat Rakhang which took 3 years to prepare (From 2546~2549 B.E.). Don't worry about the "NEWLY MADE" status, they are actually very good, original pieces from the old sacred temple of Wat Rakhang, Bangkok Thailand. Well, you can examine the quality and details by CLICK to VIEW ENLARGED photos to examine yourselves. Good news is, currently, the entry price for a set is not too expensive for such a quality collectible set and each breakdown cost is only approx. RM25-00** a piece (the amulet traders will kill me for this....). But I assume these images will appreciate in value over time very quickly. So, please don't use this as a basis to argue with Amulet Trader a few years from now. Well, remember back in those days, A Roon 1 Series of Wat Paknam was only retailed by temple at 10 Thai Baht as a form of donation.

* In Malaysia, you may try Ho Fook Sang, Ipoh. Who has very good contact with people from Wat Rakhang and actually he was the one who introduced me to this lovely collectible set (I have got three sets from him as gifts for my friends) **Possibly you may have to compensate for shipping cost from Thailand. I have nothing to do with this and neither want to be associated with commercial transactions, so please don't ask me. This is the first series of MIR's recommended set. My criteria for recommendation is simple: It is not too expensive (assuming it is on a share basis) and you can be sure of a genuine quality amulets from a reputable Thai Wat (Buddhist temple). well, I am sure there are more selections out there. If you have; you may try to send me pictures/photos and background of your collection to add more to this library.
