This Phra Nang Phaya Image ( I am more inclined to relate this image as a more rarer form of a Nang Jitlada where recently, Wat Phra Keow releases one limited edition set in 2006 to commemorate seventh re-birth of the Thai Queen) was given to my daughter as a gift. I was told it was made by a famous temple in Bangkok. My Thai friend said he got this image as one of the military general has converted to Christianity and it passed on to him some 20 years ago as apersonal gift. It was supposedly being produced in quite limited number in original batch. He has two of this and thought I should have one for my kid. I have no reliable source to verify the actual production numbers nor has any way in confirming the story line. Anyway, I have seen quite a number of black replicas being traded at some amulet shops. Anyway, my friend advised me to keep this for my daughter as he felt since the image was produced for the Thai Royal family, it must be a good stuff - well, human weakness... I guess, because I thought the same way too.

Anyway, this is one of the two amulets that has a better presentation n velvet box (the next image in such a presentation box was a LP SODH (click here). Overall, as religious images with various forms, sizes and origin are very popular in Thailand, one of the wekaness in me is, I am not entirely good at these matters. But I am sure there are many Guru collectors who may be able to lend a hand in helping me verifying some of the amulets/Medallions present in this website, So, if anyone of you has information relating to any of the images shown herein this website (or correct any mistakes I made in the content writing), please furnish me with more information so as to enrich the content of this website in a more accurate way (Naturally, appropriate credit will also be given for such contributing effort).

Actually, even if you buy the idea to think this image is special, you don't need to specifically seeking one similar image because on and off, some popular temples in Thailand will release some Images of this type for the Thai public who wishes to own a good, high quality Nang Phrya. For an example, recently, a friend offered me with an Nang Praya image where a renown Temple in Bangkok has released a series of twin images in a box for people that wishes to have a good images for home and personal use. Actualy, they are not being prized expensively even for an average Thai. So this set is quite popular among the many Thai elderly folks to acquire for their loved ones at home or to whom still have not own any image yet. Well, temples in Thailand has a different form in raising fund to maintain operations in their temples, and such sale is actually a form of donation for the temple to either cover expenses for upkeeping the temple or as well as raising some fund for the poor - so I think this kind of positive move should always be encouraged. I bought a few sets for my office staffs to use and since some of them are also "fans of Nang Phaya", haha ...

JUST REMEMBER: You don't need to cough out a lot of blood to own a Nang Praya (becoz' it is defying the BASIC rules in Buddhism. For an instance, the images shown at right are produced by a reputable temple, blessed and it serves its basic objectives to protect. It is quite sad to see trading of Images become an active commodity these days..

Brief information that I can gather: Phra Nang Phaya is often favoured by Thai women. It is a earth-based amulet or from wood that mixed with herbs and sand. Popular colours are red-clay, yellowish and some are in green or like the one shown above, in black. Except some that carved from wood and also depends on respective origin, usually the earth-based versions are separated into coursy-sand or fine-grained types. See bottom sections for MORE variations .....
