Affectionedly referred as "Land Below the Wind" (The state is call the land below the wind because it is under
major tropical wind belt and thus does not suffer from any typhoons or destructive winds. Sabah situated at the northern part of the worldís third largest island, Borneo. It is also the second largest state in the Malaysia, has the South China Sea on its western flank, and the Sulu Sea on the east. Towards the south-east there is the Celebes Sea. Political boundaries bordered by Sarawak on its southwestern side, and Kalimantan (Indonesian Borneo) to the south and the many tiny Philippine Islands on the northern east.

With around 1.8 million population, gifted with various natural resources, easily and generally regarded as one of the richest states in Malaysia (During its heyday as a timber zone, Sabah once claimed to have the most millionaires in the world). Free from natural disaster zone ("Wind Below the Wind" referring to the stateís location just below the typhoon belt and thus free from any typhoons or destructive winds). Recent much hype by irresponsible western
media about the haze was best cleared by a recent report of a foreign visitor to Sabah

With the state capital and the main administrative centre, Kota Kinabalu locates at the north western zone, the early days in the seventies and eighties saw many illegal immigrants flocked in from the neighbouring countries into the mainland via the sea routes.
