16mm f/3.5 Ai Fisheye-Nikkor
<<< --- The picture at left of the Nikkor Fisheye 16mm f/3.5 lens was a scanned image from a 1978 Nikkor lens marketing leaflet. This is still a f/3.5 version ! It has three interchangeable filters plus one plain glass filter built into the lens barrel. This lens has a serial number bearing 288001.

It still provides a near hemispheric coverage of 170° instead of 180° which provides an extreme wideangle pictures with the dramatic perspective effect inherent in fisheye lenses. A plus point is, this lens is extremely portable, with its size and weight comparable to a normal lens. It has Ai-Specification, an automatic diaphragm which permits the the "newly" introduced thru-the-lens viewing and metering. The lens with an AIcoupling system has the same cosmetic with a pre-AI f/3.5 version which believed was introduced in 1976. This f/3.5 lens was eventually replaced by a faster f/2.8 version (see below) in 1979.
The Fisheye-Nikkor 16mm f/3.5 lens was eventually replaced with another lens with a faster lens speed of f/2.8 in 1979. The Fisheye-Nikkor remained on Nikon product list started from July of 1979 until it was being discontinued in February, 1982, replaced by a Fisheye-Nikkor 16mm f/2.8s version which has an Ai-S coupling system. But whatever the changes is, both series have equivalent design, lens speed and performance except the color of the lens coating. In fact, other than that, you can safely used the Ai-S technical spec sheet appeared on next page as a reference for the older AI Fisheye lens (quite lazy to repeat simialr thing here...so, save some time for other things)
I remembered this lens has a greenish lens coating, as opposed to the pinkish color found in the later Nikkor Ai-S Fisheye lenses upgrade. Note: Production Serial Number for this version was believed to have been started from 188051 for the Ai-Spec f/2.8 lens. 185001 for the subsequent Ai-S version.
