Introduced: 1995/6
; Discontinued: no info

Economical mid-range zoom, suitable for many applications, including portraiture and travel photography but advisable to use faster film types suchas ASA 200 + to make it more friendly to use. Introduced to supplement Nikon entry level Nikon MF Nikon FM10 and FE10 SLR models but they can also be used for other Nikon reflex SLRs as genetically, it is an Ai-S zoom.

Despite it was a produce after Nikon has shifted to autofocus for about 10 years, so, it is strange to see the Company still offer a new lens version in an essentially a Manual Focus zoom lens. It takes 52mm filters as the variable aperture stopped down further to f/4.5 at its widest zoom setting (70mm). Focusing with
Nikon FM2N or other older models may exhibit diming of the splitted rangefinder screen (Type K) advisable to use Type B or E focusing screens for easier focusing and/or photo composition. Focus down to 46 inches (1.5m).
