CANON EOS 850 QD (Quartz Date) film-based 135mm (36 x 24mm) format AF-SLR camera,
Approx. Product Cycle: 1988 ~ 1989

Type: 35mm autofocus, single-lens reflex camera with electronically-controlled automatic exposure, focal plane shutter, built-in motor drive but without built-in flash design as in the case of the Canon EOS-750. The camera was quite short lived, it lasted only a year in the market (shorter than the EOS 750 which lasted a year more).

Canon Autofocus EF Lens Resources

* The EOS 850 (QD), sister model of the EOS 750, does not have a TTL built-in flash, but by using the Speedlite 160E, it is capable of fully auto shooting just like the EOS 750.
* Auto date models are provided with five imprint date items (including OFF).
* Similarly with the EOS-750, a pre-wind film advance mode in which all of the film is wound forward when the camera is loaded and then rewound back into the cassette one frame at a time as the photos are taken. Mid roll rewind is not possible with this model. The film advance speed is approx. 1.5 fps. Replaced by EOS700 in 1990.
