body from the last batch of 1956, later top plate with both flash sync., note Leicashop™
has rated the base plate as cond. C in this set, it came with a working Leicameter

Leica M3 chrome double stroke. Serial
Number: 818517. Approx. Year: 1956. No lens, no accessories. But simply because it
was a very well preserved body which rated highly. Thus, it has a Start-Price of
EURO 1,400-00 in the online auction. this probably will give you with an idea that
pristine condition of your hardware, if not falls on rarity factor, still commands
the premium in the used equipment and/or collectibles market.
|
However, shown below is a mint Leica M3 body with double-stroke in original condition, in perfect working order, packaged
with a mint rigid Summicron 2/50mm, cap, inspection card, maker's box. S/N 8820xx,
a 1957 model beyond first 50,000 units produced. However, in such combination with
an extremely well preserved camera body, the auction price has ballooned up to a
hammer price of EURO 4,000-00 ! So,
other than rarity element, condition of the camera can be another major factor contributing
to its premium.
